Markel Darby

Markel Darby is a reporter who started his career with Video News & Reviews has bounded back to his pseudo-journalistic role as bon vivant, scrumbmuffin, and resident pencil pusher to write about movies once again. His career cut short in the early 80s when people were fatigued with his churlish wit, lack of serious character, and he wasn’t getting paid anyway, so it was arrivederci and he escaped the life of an inkstained wretch.

But he is back, to our great chagrin, and his first review/take on “Maninkari” appears on this website. Good luck following it, Naked Lunch seems lucid compared to this trivial utterance. But freedom of speech and all that nonsense compelled me to give the old boy a chance, see if he still hit the 3 from long range the way he used to. And he’s doing extra work–he is writing this up, his own introduction, referring to himself as a third person and mocking–dare I say, mocking–the publisher of johnpulliam.net, his apparent boss (despite the lack of any transactional coin) to his face, and is being allowed to it. There will be more in the future, perhaps from J.A. himself, or maybe from me. Like all great journalism, you never really know if you are reading the truth, uncertain on who you can ever trust, these days.
